You’re Invited……… A custom invitation always makes it a special occasion.
This post is for my fellow tea party lovers out there. As I have mentioned before, I love the whole idea of Afternoon Tea. And, if I can combine it with a visit with a girlfriend then it’s made even more special. I recently got to do just that when I threw an Un-Birthday Tea Party for my girlfriend, Vicki. We have been friends since we were two years old and went to nursery school together all the way through high school graduation! So, can you imagine my disbelief when I realized that I mistakenly wished her a happy birthday ten days after her b’day?! I got the wrong day! This called for a very special make-it-up-to-her party! So, I threw her an Un-Birthday Tea Party!
Your Tea Party hostess with the mostest! 🙂 I got this cute spring floral maxi dress from Steinmart.
Set a pretty Tea Table ~ I set up outside in my courtyard. Luckily the weather cooperated! Use your prettiest serving pieces. And, remember to have flowers!
The other star of the Tea Table is a Victoria Sponge Cake. This is a Raspberry Jam Cake. Amazing! I will post the recipe.
I enjoy any reason to entertain (on and off the stage!) so I had great fun planning all the details of this very special occasion for my very special friend. I hope you enjoy this little gallery of photos I took to document the festivities. And, maybe it will inspire you to celebrate one of your special girlfriends with a beautiful tea party. Just don’t wait until you miss her birthday!!
*This lovely Tea Party would also be a perfect way to celebrate Mom on Mother’s Day!
It’s that time of year again! Actually, it was that time of year again last month for our annual X-Mas in July “Epic Southern Living Magazine Christmas Cake Baking Party!” However, this year one of my nieces couldn’t make it for any dates in July so we moved it to August. And, once again, it was a chaotic, but fun, success!
Here is the cake we decided to make this year:
Ta Da! We did it! The Southern Living Magazine Chocolate Citrus Orange Cake with Candied Oranges and Chocolate Ganache Filling!
This annual tradition came about a few years ago when I realized that Continue reading
I am happy to say that our 2nd Annual Xmas in July Southern Living Magazine Christmas Cake Baking Party was a success!
with Sam, Esar (my niece’s lovely French foreign exchange student-who was the stand-in for my daughter) and Lauren
Last year I got the bright idea (?!) of getting the girls in the family together with my daughter and my nieces, along with my mom, to bake a Southern Living Magazine Christmas Cake. Despite the heat, outside and in the kitchen inside, we had so much fun that a tradition was born. However, just like the recipe for the cake itself, it takes a lot more planning than you would think trying to coordinate everyone’s schedules and get everyone together at the same time. Here’s hoping you are having a wonderful summer and that all you picnic lovers are getting to feed your picnic dreams!
I was able to do just that when my darling husband agreed to play along (did he have a choice, really? 😉 and help me live out my Fourth of July picnic fantasy this year. After he helped slog all of our picnic supplies from the car to The Perfect Picnic Spot, and help set up, and take pictures, I told him I would never get mad at him again. for anything. ever. (We will see how long that lasts! 😉 Anyway, we spent the day visiting an American Village and stayed for the amazing fireworks display and it made me feel perfectly patriotic and, as always, proud to be an American and blessed with our freedoms– thanks to all those who serve and have served, and fight the good fight. I’m talking patriotism – not politics- here:)
Here are a few of my “Must Haves” for a perfect picnic anytime: Continue reading
Christmas in July!
My God, I’m Hot!-In the kitchen!-In July!! 😉
Here we are with the finished Southern Living Gift Box Cake!
A couple of month’s ago I was texting with my youngest niece, Sam, when she sent me a picture of a cake she had baked from scratch and she said it reminded of her of a Southern Living Magazine Christmas Cake. (If you haven’t read my essay I wrote for B-Metro Magazine on my daughter’s and my adventures with baking those cakes every Christmas for several years, you can find it in my book “LMAO! A collection of humor essays to help you lose weight!” at amazon.) We decided then and there that we would get together and have a Christmas in July Party and bake one of the Southern Living Christmas Cakes. Continue reading
