You’re Invited……… A custom invitation always makes it a special occasion.
This post is for my fellow tea party lovers out there. As I have mentioned before, I love the whole idea of Afternoon Tea. And, if I can combine it with a visit with a girlfriend then it’s made even more special. I recently got to do just that when I threw an Un-Birthday Tea Party for my girlfriend, Vicki. We have been friends since we were two years old and went to nursery school together all the way through high school graduation! So, can you imagine my disbelief when I realized that I mistakenly wished her a happy birthday ten days after her b’day?! I got the wrong day! This called for a very special make-it-up-to-her party! So, I threw her an Un-Birthday Tea Party!
I enjoy any reason to entertain (on and off the stage!) so I had great fun planning all the details of this very special occasion for my very special friend. I hope you enjoy this little gallery of photos I took to document the festivities. And, maybe it will inspire you to celebrate one of your special girlfriends with a beautiful tea party. Just don’t wait until you miss her birthday!!
*This lovely Tea Party would also be a perfect way to celebrate Mom on Mother’s Day!
- Your Tea Party hostess with the mostest! 🙂 I got this cute spring floral maxi dress from Steinmart.
- Set a pretty Tea Table ~ I set up outside in my courtyard. Luckily the weather cooperated! Use your prettiest serving pieces. And, remember to have flowers!
- Vicki ~ The Guest of Honor!
- My cherished Rose Tea Pot hand painted by my mother-in-law.
- The tiered tea tray is the centerpiece of a Tea Party! I made the sandwiches and cut them into flowers and finger size. Chicken and Egg Salad bought from Chicken Salad Chick! Of course, you must have scones! I bought mine from a specialty scones shop near me, The Highland Gourmet. They ship world-wide. I bought my Devonshire Cream from Cost Plus World Market.
- The other star of the Tea Table is a Victoria Sponge Cake. This is a Raspberry Jam Cake. Amazing! I will post the recipe.
- The Lemon Curd Tarts served on a cake pedestal hand painted with roses by my mother-in-law. I wish you could see it!! You can find Lemon Curd at Cost Plus World Market.
- Fashion Plate! I bought a set of these luncheon plates years ago. They feature a different fashion illustration. Love them!
- Another Fashion Plate! Perfect for a girlfriends lunch.
- I used these cute fashion accessory paper napkins to serve with the cocktails.
- I served a quiche bought from Fresh Market on this beautiful plate hand painted by my mother-in-law.
- These pretty ice cubes are made with edible flowers frozen in trays with distilled water ~ so pretty!
- These are the flowered ice cubes.
- These are the edible flowers that you can buy at Whole Foods.
- The Rose Cocktails with floating edible flowers ~ I will post the recipe. ~ Cheers!
P.S. Here is the Raspberry Jam Cake recipe I got from The Boston Globe and the Rose Cocktail recipe I got from Better Homes and Gardens from Pinterest. Also, since it was a morning tea party I served English Breakfast Tea ~ Enjoy!
Always Entertaining ~ Sunny xo
